What this sheet is for
This chart is built for the weeks leading up to exams, when revision needs to happen consistently but motivation can drop fast. A visible points balance gives a student something concrete to chase each day. It works for any subject or age group and lets a parent or carer set the reward at whatever level fits the household.
How to use it
Write the student's name and fill in 'My reward goal' with a specific, agreed reward and the points target needed to claim it. Consult the 'Ways to earn points' menu before each session so the student knows exactly which activity they are planning. After the session, enter the date, describe the 'Revision activity' in their own words, log the 'Points' earned from the menu, and update the 'Running total' column. Sixteen rows cover roughly two to three weeks of daily revision.
What is printed on the page
“Exam Revision Points Chart” is laid out as points ledger: a points menu of six tasks and their values in a box at the top, a name and saving-up-for line, then a sixteen-row ledger of date, task, points earned and running total. Under the title it reads “Track every revision session and save up points toward a reward you choose.”, and the line at the foot of the page says “Aim for a short session every day rather than one long one — regular review sticks better than cramming.”.
The menu items slot holds six entries — “25-min focused revision block — 3 pts”, “Completed a past paper or practice test — 6 pts”, “Made summary notes or flash cards — 4 pts”, “Reviewed yesterday's notes before starting — 2 pts”, “Tested self without looking at notes — 5 pts” and “Revised a topic I find difficult — 5 pts” — so the sheet is already filled in for study rather than left as blank rows to label yourself.
The remaining labels on “Exam Revision Points Chart”, the study sheet, are “Student name” for the name label, “My reward goal” for the goal prompt, “Ways to earn points” for the menu heading, “Date” for the date heading, “Revision activity” for the task heading, “Points” for the points heading and “Running total” for the total heading.
Two things about this particular points ledger are settings rather than text, and “Exam Revision Points Chart” has them set like this. Menu box is on: include the points menu box at the top. Goal line is on: include the saving-up-for line beside the name.
Tips
Set the reward target before the chart starts so the student knows exactly how many points claim the prize.
Let the student choose which menu task to attempt each day — small control over the plan builds buy-in.
If two activities happen in one sitting, use two rows and add both point values to the running total.
The other layouts in this set
“Exam Revision Points Chart” is one of three sheets in this set, each a different fixed layout filled for the same topic. “Homework & Revision Star Chart” uses the star grid layout and “30 Study Sessions Star Chart” uses the single goal layout. Pick by how you work: the layout decides how much you write and where, not what the sheet is about.
