What this sheet is for

Teaching days rarely unfold as planned — a pulled student, a late delivery of materials, or an unscheduled meeting can shift everything. This planner gives a classroom teacher one structured page to anchor the day: scheduled time blocks from early morning through evening prep, the three things that must happen regardless, and a running task list for the smaller jobs that accumulate between lessons.

How to use it

Fill in Today's Three Priorities first thing: the lesson or unit goal you are committed to reaching, any student needing a specific follow-up, and one administrative or communications task. Then map your Classroom Schedule in the half-hour blocks, noting lesson names, cover duties, break supervision, and planning periods. Use the Today's Task Checklist for recurring duties — marking, photocopying, entering grades, emailing parents — ticking each as you go. The Notes and Observations box at the bottom right is the place to record anything from the day that needs carrying forward: a student behaviour pattern, a supply running low, or a reminder for a colleague.

What is printed on the page

“Teacher's Classroom Day Planner” is laid out as time-blocked day: hourly schedule column 6am–9pm on the left; top-three priorities, a to-do checklist and a notes box on the right. Under the title it reads “Hour-by-hour planning for instruction, admin tasks, and parent contact.”, and the line at the foot of the page says “Write tomorrow's top priority before you leave today — it takes 30 seconds and saves the morning scramble.”.

The priority prompts slot holds three entries — “Lesson or unit goal to hit today”, “Student needing follow-up action” and “Admin or comms task to complete” — so the sheet is already filled in for teacher rather than left as blank rows to label yourself.

The remaining labels on the page are “Date / Day” for the date label, “Classroom Schedule” for the schedule heading, “Today's Three Priorities” for the priorities heading, “Today's Task Checklist” for the todo heading and “Notes & Observations” for the notes heading.

Two things about this particular time-blocked day are settings rather than text, and “Teacher's Classroom Day Planner” has them set like this. Half hours is on (the opposite of the layout's default): split each hour into two 30-minute rows. Notes box is on: include the notes box under the checklist.

Tips

Block planning periods in the schedule before adding other tasks so preparation time is protected from ad-hoc requests.

Use the Student needing follow-up priority line for one named student each day to keep individual progress visible over a week.

After the final bell, spend two minutes scanning the Notes box and transferring any unfinished items to tomorrow's checklist before leaving.

The other layouts in this set

“Teacher's Classroom Day Planner” is one of three sheets in this set, each a different fixed layout filled for the same topic. “Parent Communication Daily Log” uses the three sections layout and “Lesson Delivery Day Planner” uses the focus page layout. Pick by how you work: the layout decides how much you write and where, not what the sheet is about.
