Who this sheet is for
This sheet is for classroom teachers who need to see lessons, parent contact, and marking commitments side by side across a full school week. Among the teacher planner formats on the site, this weekly layout suits teachers who manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously and want one consolidated view rather than a lesson-by-lesson daily breakdown.
What this sheet is for
Teaching weeks rarely go to plan unless there is somewhere to see all obligations at once. This sheet gives each school day its own row divided into the three things that most often slip — what you are teaching and why, who you need to call or email, and what marking or feedback is owed. Filling it in on Sunday evening or first thing Monday takes under ten minutes and means nothing sits forgotten by Wednesday.
How to use it
Write the date range in the Week of field, then work through Monday to Friday row by row. Under Lessons & Objectives note each class or period and the core learning objective, not just the topic name. Use Parent Contact / Admin to log calls to make, forms to collect, or meetings to attend. Marking & Feedback Due is a simple to-do column: write the class set or individual piece and the date it must be returned. At the foot, fill in the three Weekly Priorities prompts — one concrete item each for assessments, students needing attention, and outstanding preparation — so you close each week with a clear handoff to the next.
What is printed on the page
“Teacher's Week at a Glance” is laid out as seven-row week: one tall row per day (Monday–Sunday) split into three labelled columns, with a three-prompt box across the foot of the page. Under the title it reads “Daily lesson blocks, parent contact, and marking — planned in one sheet.”, and the line at the foot of the page says “Keep a completed sheet each week as a simple teaching log; it doubles as evidence for performance reviews.”.
The column headings slot holds three entries — “Lessons & Objectives”, “Parent Contact / Admin” and “Marking & Feedback Due” — so the sheet is already filled in for teacher rather than left as blank rows to label yourself.
The footer prompts slot holds three entries — “One assessment to return or record:”, “One student who needs follow-up:” and “One prep task to finish before Friday:” — so the sheet is already filled in for teacher rather than left as blank rows to label yourself.
The remaining labels on “Teacher's Week at a Glance”, the teacher sheet, are “Week of” for the week label and “Weekly Priorities” for the footer heading.
Two things about this particular seven-row week are settings rather than text, and “Teacher's Week at a Glance” has them set like this. Start sunday is off: start the week on Sunday instead of Monday. Foot box is on: include the three-prompt box at the foot.
Tips
Write lesson objectives as student outcomes ('students can compare…') rather than activity names so planning gaps are easier to spot.
Log every parent call in the contact column the moment it happens; the sheet then becomes a dated record if a dispute arises later.
Circle any marking item that carries over to the following week and transfer it first when you fill in the next sheet.
The other layouts in this set
“Teacher's Week at a Glance” is one of three sheets in this set, each a different fixed layout filled for the same topic. “Lesson Planning Weekly Planner” uses the day boxes with goals layout and “Weekly Parent Communication Log” uses the weekly tracker table layout. Pick by how you work: the layout decides how much you write and where, not what the sheet is about.
Step by step
- Write the starting date in the 'Week of' field at the top of the sheet.
- For each day Monday through Sunday, fill in the 'Lessons & Objectives' column with what you plan to teach and the key learning goal.
- Log any calls, emails, or admin tasks in the 'Parent Contact / Admin' column as they happen or as you anticipate them.
- Note deadlines for returning or recording student work in the 'Marking & Feedback Due' column.
- At the end of the week, complete the three 'Weekly Priorities' prompts — one assessment to return or record, one student who needs follow-up, and one prep task to finish before Friday.
Example entry
Week of: April 7. Monday — Lessons & Objectives: Introduce fractions on a number line; objective: place unit fractions correctly. Parent Contact / Admin: Email Marcus's guardian re: missed test. Marking & Feedback Due: Return graded chapter 4 quizzes. Weekly Priorities — One assessment to return or record: Chapter 5 pre-assessment scores into gradebook.
Questions about this sheet
Does the sheet cover weekends, or is it Monday through Friday only?
The sheet has seven rows, Monday through Sunday, so you can use the weekend rows for prep notes or leave them blank if your week is five days.
How does this sheet differ from the Lesson Planning Weekly Planner on the same site?
This sheet splits each day into three specific columns — lessons, parent contact, and marking — while the Lesson Planning Weekly Planner focuses on lesson goals, materials, and differentiation within each day box.
Can I file completed sheets as a teaching record?
Yes — the footer tip on the sheet notes that completed pages double as evidence for performance reviews, so keeping them in a dated folder is a straightforward way to build a simple teaching log.
