Newborn Daily Care Log
Newborn daily care log for tracking every feed, nappy change, sleep window and symptom across a single 24-hour period.
The PDF is built on your device from the layout and the text above; nothing is uploaded. If the preview does not display, the download buttons still work.
What this sheet is for
In the first weeks with a newborn, days blur together and small details — how long a feed lasted, how many wet nappies since midnight, whether the last sleep stretched longer — matter both for the baby's wellbeing and for conversations with a midwife or paediatrician. This sheet gives caregivers one structured page per day to capture those details as they happen, without relying on memory.
How to use it
Work through the sheet in real time rather than filling it in retrospectively. In the Time — What Happened column, jot the type of event (breast L/R, bottle volume in ml/oz, wet nappy, soiled nappy, sleep start, sleep end) against each 30-minute slot as it occurs. At the start of the day, write one feeding concern, one sleep pattern and one symptom or question under Today's Three Focus Points to keep those priorities visible. Tick items in the Daily Care Checklist as routine tasks are done. Use Observations and Questions for anything that does not fit a time slot — colour, smell, behaviour changes, or things to raise at the next appointment.
What is printed on the page
“Newborn Daily Care Log” is laid out as time-blocked day: hourly schedule column 6am–9pm on the left; top-three priorities, a to-do checklist and a notes box on the right. Under the title it reads “Track feeds, nappy changes, sleep and symptoms for one day.”, and the line at the foot of the page says “Bring this sheet to any paediatrician visit — feeding and output patterns answer most early questions.”.
The priority prompts slot holds three entries — “Feeding concern or goal today”, “Sleep pattern to watch” and “Symptom or question for doctor” — so the sheet is already filled in for baby rather than left as blank rows to label yourself.
The remaining labels on the page are “Date / Age (days)” for the date label, “Time — What Happened” for the schedule heading, “Today's Three Focus Points” for the priorities heading, “Daily Care Checklist” for the todo heading and “Observations & Questions” for the notes heading.
Two things about this particular time-blocked day are settings rather than text, and “Newborn Daily Care Log” has them set like this. Half hours is on (the opposite of the layout's default): split each hour into two 30-minute rows. Notes box is on: include the notes box under the checklist.
Tips
Note breast side (L or R) and minutes suckled each feed — cluster feeding patterns become visible across just two or three sheets.
Circle any nappy slot where output is absent for more than four hours; this is the first data a doctor or midwife will ask for.
Keep a pen clipped to the sheet on the changing mat so entries happen at the moment, not after you have forgotten the exact time.
The other layouts in this set
“Newborn Daily Care Log” is one of three sheets in this set, each a different fixed layout filled for the same topic. “Baby Feed & Sleep Planner” uses the three sections layout and “Baby Milestone Day Planner” uses the focus page layout. Pick by how you work: the layout decides how much you write and where, not what the sheet is about.
