What this sheet is for
This certificate marks the moment a child crosses the finish line of their first 5-kilometre run — a goal that usually takes several weeks of consistent training to reach. It suits a school running club, a couch-to-5K programme for young people, a family fun run, or any informal setting where an adult wants to give a young runner a tangible record of their effort.
How to use it
Write the runner's name clearly on the boxed name line beneath 'This certifies that'. The achievement line already reads 'has successfully completed their first 5K run', so it needs no editing. Add the finishing date on the date line at the foot. A coach or training leader signs the first line labelled 'Coach / Trainer', and a parent or guardian signs the second line. Press a gold star sticker or an ink stamp into the circular seal before handing the certificate to the child.
What is printed on the page
“First 5K Run Certificate” is laid out as kids playful: a thick rounded frame with a dashed inner line and a star in each corner, a big title, 'Awarded to' over a boxed name line, the achievement and detail lines, a large star for a sticker, and date and signature lines along the foot. Landscape. Under the title it reads “Awarded for completing a 5-kilometre running goal”, and the line at the foot of the page says “Keep your finishing time and distance — comparing it to future runs is the clearest way to see how far you have come.”.
The remaining labels on “First 5K Run Certificate”, the fitness sheet, are “This certifies that” for the presented label, “has successfully completed their first 5K run” for the achievement line, “showing real commitment to training, pacing and finishing strong” for the detail line, “Date” for the date label, “Coach / Trainer” for the signature label and “Parent / Guardian” for the second signature label.
Two things about this particular kids playful are settings rather than text, and “First 5K Run Certificate” has them set like this. Two signatures is on: two signature lines instead of one. Seal is on: print an empty circular seal for a sticker or a stamp.
Tips
Note the child's finishing time in pencil beside the date so they can beat it when they run 5K again.
Print on heavier paper stock, at least 90 gsm, so the certificate survives being carried home in a bag.
Pair the certificate with a brief written note naming one specific thing the runner did well during training.
The other layouts in this set
