What this sheet is for

Strength sessions rarely fail in the gym — they fail in the hours around it: skipped meals, poor sleep the night before, no clear plan walking in. This sheet covers the whole day, not just the workout window. Reach for it the evening before a heavy session or first thing on a training morning when you want one page to hold everything together.

How to use it

Start with Today's Top 3 Targets: write your main lift with a specific weight and rep goal, the accessory movement you most need to address, and one recovery action for the day. Work down the Pre- & Post-Session Checklist to confirm the practical details are handled before and after you train. Fill the Training and Day Schedule in 30-minute blocks — write the exercise, sets, and reps as you plan them, then cross out or annotate as the session unfolds. Use Session Notes and Observations after training to record what moved well, what stalled, and any adjustments for next session.

What is printed on the page

“Strength Training Day Planner” is laid out as time-blocked day: hourly schedule column 6am–9pm on the left; top-three priorities, a to-do checklist and a notes box on the right. Under the title it reads “Plan, log and reflect on one full day of strength-focused training.”, and the line at the foot of the page says “Log actual sets and reps in the schedule column — estimates fade fast; ink lasts.”.

The priority prompts slot holds three entries — “Main lift + goal weight / reps”, “Weak point or accessory focus” and “Recovery priority (sleep, food, etc.)” — so the sheet is already filled in for fitness rather than left as blank rows to label yourself.

The remaining labels on the page are “Training date” for the date label, “Training & Day Schedule” for the schedule heading, “Today's Top 3 Targets” for the priorities heading, “Pre- & Post-Session Checklist” for the todo heading and “Session Notes & Observations” for the notes heading.

Two things about this particular time-blocked day are settings rather than text, and “Strength Training Day Planner” has them set like this. Half hours is on (the opposite of the layout's default): split each hour into two 30-minute rows. Notes box is on: include the notes box under the checklist.

Tips

Write planned sets and reps before training, then record actual numbers beside them — the gap tells you more than either figure alone.

Block travel to and from the gym, warm-up, and cool-down as separate 30-minute rows so the session fits your real day.

Use the Session Notes box to note grip, stance or cue changes that worked — small technique fixes are easy to forget by the next session.

The other layouts in this set

“Strength Training Day Planner” is one of three sheets in this set, each a different fixed layout filled for the same topic. “Race Day Countdown Planner” uses the three sections layout and “Cardio Session Day Planner” uses the focus page layout. Pick by how you work: the layout decides how much you write and where, not what the sheet is about.
