What this sheet is for

This sheet is for anyone who wants to cook less often without eating the same meal twice. It suits a Sunday cook who wants to stretch one prep session across the working week — or anyone trying to cut the daily question of what to make for dinner. Fill it in before the weekly shop so your list follows the plan, not the other way around.

How to use it

Start at the foot of the page with the This Week's Prep Plan box: decide which day you will batch cook and which proteins and grains you will make in bulk. Then work through Monday to Sunday row by row. In Meals (B / L / D / Snack), write a brief entry for each eating occasion. In Prep Needed, note any active cooking required that day — chopping, roasting, assembling. In Uses Batch Cook?, mark yes or no so you can see at a glance how well your prep session is carrying the week.

What is printed on the page

“Cook-Once Meal Plan” is laid out as seven-row week: one tall row per day (Monday–Sunday) split into three labelled columns, with a three-prompt box across the foot of the page. Under the title it reads “Plan your week around one or two prep sessions to cut daily cooking time.”, and the line at the foot of the page says “Check your fridge and freezer before writing anything — use what is already there before buying more.”.

The column headings slot holds three entries — “Meals (B / L / D / Snack)”, “Prep Needed” and “Uses Batch Cook?” — so the sheet is already filled in for meal planning rather than left as blank rows to label yourself.

The footer prompts slot holds three entries — “Batch cook on (day/time):”, “Proteins to prep in bulk:” and “Grains / veg to prep in bulk:” — so the sheet is already filled in for meal planning rather than left as blank rows to label yourself.

The remaining labels on the page are “Week of” for the week label and “This Week's Prep Plan” for the footer heading.

Two things about this particular seven-row week are settings rather than text, and “Cook-Once Meal Plan” has them set like this. Start sunday is off: start the week on Sunday instead of Monday. Foot box is on: include the three-prompt box at the foot.

Tips

Write the batch-cook day's row first — it anchors the rest of the week's Prep Needed column.

If three or more days show 'no' in Uses Batch Cook, reconsider what you are cooking in bulk.

Leave the snack slot blank until breakfast and dinner are settled — snacks often fall out of leftovers naturally.

The other layouts in this set

“Cook-Once Meal Plan” is one of three sheets in this set, each a different fixed layout filled for the same topic. “Use What You Have Week” uses the day boxes with goals layout and “Weekly Meal Prep Tracker” uses the weekly tracker table layout. Pick by how you work: the layout decides how much you write and where, not what the sheet is about.
