Weekly Meal Prep Day Planner
Hour-by-hour cook-ahead planner for a weekly meal prep session, covering batch cooking, portioning, and cold-storage notes for home cooks.
The PDF is built on your device from the layout and the text above; nothing is uploaded. If the preview does not display, the download buttons still work.
What this sheet is for
Most meal prep sessions stall not because of effort but because the order of tasks is left unplanned. This sheet is for the one day a week — usually a Sunday or a day off — when you cook in bulk for the days ahead. Reach for it the night before your prep session to sequence the oven, hob, and chopping tasks so nothing waits on something else and food cools safely before it is stored.
How to use it
Start by filling in Today's three must-cooks with the dishes that will carry the week — a protein batch, a cooked grain or starchy base, and a vegetable or sauce. Then block out the Prep session timeline in 30-minute slots from the time you plan to start: write the active task in each slot (e.g. 'boil lentils', 'roast tray 1', 'chop raw veg for lunches'). Work through the Prep-day task checklist — pre-filled with common actions — ticking each as it is done. Use Fridge and freezer notes to record what goes where, in what container, and the date it must be used by.
What is printed on the page
“Weekly Meal Prep Day Planner” is laid out as time-blocked day: hourly schedule column 6am–9pm on the left; top-three priorities, a to-do checklist and a notes box on the right. Under the title it reads “Map out your cook-ahead session hour by hour — from shopping to storing.”, and the line at the foot of the page says “Write actual finish times as you go; gaps show where prep consistently runs over so you can adjust next week.”.
The priority prompts slot holds three entries — “Protein batch (dish + qty)”, “Grain or base to cook” and “Veg or sauce to prep” — so the sheet is already filled in for meal planning rather than left as blank rows to label yourself.
The remaining labels on the page are “Prep date” for the date label, “Prep session timeline” for the schedule heading, “Today's three must-cooks” for the priorities heading, “Prep-day task checklist” for the todo heading and “Fridge & freezer notes” for the notes heading.
Two things about this particular time-blocked day are settings rather than text, and “Weekly Meal Prep Day Planner” has them set like this. Half hours is on (the opposite of the layout's default): split each hour into two 30-minute rows. Notes box is on: include the notes box under the checklist.
Tips
Schedule oven tasks first in the timeline; they set the pace that all hob and cold-prep work must fit around.
Write the use-by date in the fridge notes box for each cooked item — three to four days for most proteins, up to three months frozen.
If a 30-minute slot runs over, note the real finish time; patterns reveal which recipes need simplifying or splitting across two sessions.
The other layouts in this set
“Weekly Meal Prep Day Planner” is one of three sheets in this set, each a different fixed layout filled for the same topic. “Cook From the Fridge Day” uses the three sections layout and “Batch Cook Planning Day” uses the focus page layout. Pick by how you work: the layout decides how much you write and where, not what the sheet is about.
