What this sheet is for

Cardio sessions fall apart at the edges — the warm-up gets skipped, the cooldown disappears, and the original goal drifts mid-effort. This sheet is for anyone who wants one focused place to write down exactly what they are going out to do before they do it, and to record what actually happened when they get back.

How to use it

Start by filling in Session date and writing your primary target — pace, duration or heart-rate zone — in the Today's target box at the top. Under Must complete today, write your three non-negotiable session elements, such as the main interval block and a specific cooldown routine. Use Optional add-ons for extras like a mobility circuit or an easy walk after the main effort. Tick each item in Daily basics as you complete it through the day, and use Session notes to record split times, perceived effort, weather conditions or anything worth remembering before the next session.

What is printed on the page

“Cardio Session Day Planner” is laid out as focus page: a large single-focus box across the top, three numbered must-dos and six could-do checkboxes on the left, a five-habit checklist and a notes area on the right. Under the title it reads “Plan, track and reflect on a single cardio workout from warm-up to cooldown.”, and the line at the foot of the page says “Cooldowns are not optional. Five minutes of easy movement after hard cardio measurably reduces next-day soreness.”.

The habit labels slot holds five entries — “Hydration target met”, “Pre-session fuel eaten”, “Warm-up completed”, “Cooldown completed” and “Sleep 7+ hrs last night” — so the sheet is already filled in for fitness rather than left as blank rows to label yourself.

The remaining labels on the page are “Session date” for the date label, “Today's target: distance / time / zone” for the focus prompt, “Must complete today” for the must heading, “Optional add-ons” for the could heading, “Daily basics” for the habits heading and “Session notes” for the notes heading.

Two things about this particular focus page are settings rather than text, and “Cardio Session Day Planner” has them set like this. Habits row is on: include the five-habit checklist. Ruled notes is on: rule the notes area with writing lines instead of leaving it blank.

Tips

Write your target heart-rate zone or pace range in the focus box before leaving home so you have a concrete number to work toward.

Use the three must-do lines for warm-up, main effort and cooldown separately — treating each as a distinct task prevents the last two from being skipped.

After the session, note one thing that felt harder than expected in Session notes; it is the most useful data point for planning next week.

The other layouts in this set

“Cardio Session Day Planner” is one of three sheets in this set, each a different fixed layout filled for the same topic. “Strength Training Day Planner” uses the time-blocked day layout and “Race Day Countdown Planner” uses the three sections layout. Pick by how you work: the layout decides how much you write and where, not what the sheet is about.
