Who this sheet is for

This sheet is for a professional managing a hard, named deadline — a deliverable due by a specific date — who needs to track daily progress, stakeholder sign-off, and blockers across a single pressure week. Where the Project Sprint Planner suits an ongoing sprint rhythm, this format is built around one concrete deadline and includes a named sign-off owner and a mid-week blocker target.

What this sheet is for

Deadline weeks have a different rhythm from ordinary work weeks. Decisions speed up, blockers become urgent, and missing one handoff can stall everything else. This planner is designed for the seven days leading up to a fixed delivery date — whether that is a client presentation, a product release, a report submission, or a regulatory filing. It keeps your daily work, your critical path, and your end-of-week review on a single printed page.

How to use it

Write the actual deadline date in the 'Deadline date' field so it stays visible all week. Under 'This week must deliver,' name the specific output, the person who must approve it, and the one blocker most likely to derail you. Each day box uses the 'Meetings · Tasks · Blockers · Sent' prompt to keep four work-relevant streams separate inside a small space. Log meetings as they are confirmed, list tasks in order of dependency, note anything halting progress, and check 'Sent' items so follow-ups are not forgotten. On Friday or the final working day, fill in the 'End-of-week debrief' box honestly — the two questions are deliberately retrospective, not celebratory.

What is printed on the page

“Deadline Week Planner” is laid out as day boxes with goals: three goal lines across the top, seven boxed days in a 4 + 3 grid with a faint hint in each, and a two-prompt review box at the bottom. Under the title it reads “Track daily tasks, meetings, and blockers when a deadline is close.”, and the line at the foot of the page says “If a task has no named owner and no due time, assign both before you close the planner.”.

The goal prompts slot holds three entries — “Deliverable due by Friday:”, “Stakeholder who must sign off:” and “One blocker to clear by Wed:” — so the sheet is already filled in for work projects rather than left as blank rows to label yourself.

The review prompts slot holds two entries — “What was incomplete, and what caused the gap?” and “What will you do differently in the next deadline run?” — so the sheet is already filled in for work projects rather than left as blank rows to label yourself.

The remaining labels on “Deadline Week Planner”, the work projects sheet, are “Deadline date:” for the week label, “This week must deliver:” for the goals heading, “Meetings · Tasks · Blockers · Sent” for the cell hint and “End-of-week debrief” for the review heading.

Two things about this particular day boxes with goals are settings rather than text, and “Deadline Week Planner” has them set like this. Start sunday is off: start the week on Sunday instead of Monday. Review box is on: include the review box at the bottom.

Tips

Write blockers in the day box the moment you spot them, not at the end of the day when detail fades.

Use the stakeholder sign-off line as a daily check: has that person seen what they need to see today?

Review incomplete tasks each morning and redraw a single arrow to the new day rather than rewriting the full task.

The other layouts in this set

“Deadline Week Planner” is one of three sheets in this set, each a different fixed layout filled for the same topic. “Project Sprint Planner” uses the seven-row week layout and “Daily Task Completion Tracker” uses the weekly tracker table layout. Pick by how you work: the layout decides how much you write and where, not what the sheet is about.

Step by step

  1. Enter the hard date in 'Deadline date' and complete all three prompts under 'This week must deliver': the deliverable due by Friday, the stakeholder who must sign off, and the one blocker to clear by Wednesday.
  2. At the start of each day, open that day's box and note the meetings, tasks, blockers, and items sent — the 'Meetings · Tasks · Blockers · Sent' hint in each cell shows what belongs there.
  3. Check the named blocker field each morning until the blocker is resolved, updating the relevant day box when it clears.
  4. If a task has no named owner or due time, apply both before you close the planner for the day, as the footer tip directs.
  5. At the week's end, answer both prompts in 'End-of-week debrief': what was incomplete and what caused the gap, and what you will do differently in the next deadline run.

Example entry

Deadline date: Friday, Nov 8. Deliverable due by Friday: Final compliance report submitted to regulator portal. Stakeholder who must sign off: Director of Legal, Maria C. One blocker to clear by Wed: Confirmation of Q3 audit figures from Finance. Thursday box: Tasks — format report appendix; Meetings — 11 a.m. legal review call; Blockers — figures confirmed, none outstanding; Sent — draft to Maria for final read.

Questions about this sheet

Should I print a new sheet for every deadline week, or can I reuse one?

Print a fresh sheet for each deadline week so the 'End-of-week debrief' answers accumulate as a reference you can look back on before your next high-pressure delivery.

The sheet has a 4 + 3 grid of day boxes — which days go where?

The layout places Monday through Thursday in the top row of four and Saturday through Sunday in the lower row of three, with Friday typically being the deadline day that anchors the whole week.

What if my deadline is mid-week rather than on Friday?

Write the actual deadline date in 'Deadline date' and adjust how you use the day boxes accordingly — the sheet does not enforce which day the deadline falls on.
