Who this sheet is for
This tracker is for a student who wants to build and monitor consistent daily study habits during the week or weeks leading up to exams. Unlike the Exam Week Study Checklist, which gives a one-time list of tasks to complete, this weekly grid format lets a student check off the same eight habits each day and watch a running streak build across the week.
What this sheet is for
When an exam is approaching, vague study intentions rarely hold. This sheet gives the weeks before a test a concrete structure: eight habits that represent the core actions of effective study — retrieval practice, practice tests, annotation, self-testing — tracked day by day so nothing quietly slips. Reach for it the moment you set an exam date and want a clear, repeatable weekly pattern to anchor your preparation.
How to use it
Write the exam date in the 'Exam date' field at the top right and keep a separate sheet for each subject if needed. Each morning, check which of the eight habits under the daily columns you intend to complete, then check the box once done — do not check in advance. At the end of the week, count consecutive days with a full or near-full row and record that number in 'Study streak (days)'. Finally, sit with the 'End-of-week review' section and answer all three prompts honestly in a few words each; those answers should shape how you adjust the following week's schedule.
What is printed on the page
“Exam Study Week Tracker” is laid out as weekly grid: eight habit rows against seven day columns of large tick boxes, a streak count box, and a three-prompt reflection for the week. Under the title it reads “Track eight daily study habits across the week leading up to your exams.”, and the line at the foot of the page says “Checking a box takes two seconds; missing a day does not erase your streak — just restart the count honestly.”.
The habit labels slot holds eight entries — “Reviewed yesterday's notes”, “Completed scheduled practice test”, “Memorized flashcard set (min. 20)”, “Read textbook section + annotated” and “Wrote summary from memory” and three more — so the sheet is already filled in for study rather than left as blank rows to label yourself.
The reflection prompts slot holds three entries — “Which subject still feels shaky?”, “What study method worked best?” and “What will you change next week?” — so the sheet is already filled in for study rather than left as blank rows to label yourself.
The remaining labels on “Exam Study Week Tracker”, the study sheet, are “Exam date” for the week label, “Study streak (days)” for the streak heading and “End-of-week review” for the reflection heading.
Two things about this particular weekly grid are settings rather than text, and “Exam Study Week Tracker” has them set like this. Start sunday is off: start the week on Sunday instead of Monday. Reflection box is on: include the reflection box at the foot.
Tips
Pair this sheet with a subject schedule so each day's practice test slot already has a named topic assigned to it.
Use the 'Logged weak topics' row as a running list — transfer those topics to index cards on Sunday for focused drilling.
If you miss two or more habits in a day, write the reason in the margin; patterns across weeks reveal your real study obstacles.
The other layouts in this set
“Exam Study Week Tracker” is one of three sheets in this set, each a different fixed layout filled for the same topic. “Daily Study Habit Tracker” uses the 30-day grid layout and “Active Recall Practice Tracker” uses the single habit layout. Pick by how you work: the layout decides how much you write and where, not what the sheet is about.
Step by step
- Use this sheet as a repeating daily tracker — each morning, note your exam date in the 'Exam date' field so the week stays anchored to a real deadline.
- At the end of each study day, check the boxes in that day's column for each of the eight habit labels you completed, such as 'Reviewed yesterday's notes' or 'No phone during work blocks.'
- Update the 'Study streak (days)' box honestly each day, restarting the count if you miss a day rather than skipping the gap.
- At the end of the week, write answers to all three reflection prompts under 'End-of-week review': which subject still feels shaky, what study method worked best, and what you will change next week.
- Print a new sheet for each exam week and compare your streak counts and reflection notes week to week.
Example entry
'Exam date' reads 'June 6, 2025.' On Thursday's column, checks appear beside 'Reviewed yesterday's notes,' 'Memorized flashcard set (min. 20),' 'No phone during work blocks,' and 'Took timed break (5–10 min/hour).' The 'Study streak (days)' box shows '4.' Under 'Which subject still feels shaky?' the student wrote 'Chemical equations — balancing.'
Questions about this sheet
Should I print one sheet per week or try to reuse it?
Print one sheet per week — the seven-day column layout is designed for a single week, and writing in the boxes each day makes the streak count meaningful.
What if I have more than eight study habits I want to track?
The sheet has eight printed habit labels, so choose the eight that matter most for your current exam subjects and leave the rest for a future week.
Can a parent or tutor fill this in with the student, or is it meant for the student alone?
Either approach works — some students checkboxes independently and share the reflection answers with a parent or tutor, while others fill it in together during a check-in.
