What this sheet is for
The days before an exam can feel both rushed and unfocused at the same time. This checklist breaks each study session into three clear phases so nothing important gets skipped — not the preparation that stops mid-session interruptions, not the active retrieval that makes revision stick, and not the short review that tells you what still needs work the following day.
How to use it
Write the exam date at the top right and use one sheet per study session. Work down the 'Before You Sit Down' section while you are setting up — every item there removes a likely distraction or sets a concrete goal. Move to 'During the Session' once the timer starts; the items keep the session active rather than passive. After the timer ends, go through 'After the Session' to consolidate and plan ahead. Use the blank lines in each section to add subject-specific tasks, and record unresolved questions in the notes box at the foot.
What is printed on the page
“Exam Week Study Checklist” is laid out as single column: three headed sections of seven pre-filled checkbox items each down one column, optional blank extra lines per section, and a notes box at the foot. Under the title it reads “Track every session, subject, and task across the days before an exam.”, and the line at the foot of the page says “Tick items only when fully done — a half-read chapter is not a tick.”.
The section headings slot holds three entries — “Before You Sit Down”, “During the Session” and “After the Session” — so the sheet is already filled in for study rather than left as blank rows to label yourself.
The section 1 items slot holds seven entries — “Write today's subject and specific topic at the top of your notes”, “Set a timer for your planned session length (e.g. 45 min)”, “Put your phone in another room or enable Do Not Disturb”, “Gather past papers, textbook, and revision notes before starting” and “Clear your desk — only session materials on the surface” and two more — so the sheet is already filled in for study rather than left as blank rows to label yourself.
The section 2 items slot holds seven entries — “Work through goal without switching to a different topic mid-session”, “After 25 min, take a 5-min break away from the desk”, “Mark anything you don't understand with a question mark to revisit”, “Test yourself on the material — do not just re-read passively” and “Write key terms and definitions in your own words” and two more — so the sheet is already filled in for study rather than left as blank rows to label yourself.
The section 3 items slot holds seven entries — “Write a two-sentence summary of what you covered today”, “List any gaps or unanswered questions for tomorrow's session”, “Check your summary against the syllabus or mark scheme”, “Update your revision timetable with what was completed” and “File or store notes in the correct subject folder or binder” and two more — so the sheet is already filled in for study rather than left as blank rows to label yourself.
The remaining labels on the page are “Exam date” for the date label and “Questions to resolve” for the notes heading.
Two things about this particular single column are settings rather than text, and “Exam Week Study Checklist” has them set like this. Blank extras is on: add two blank lines at the end of each section for the reader's own items. Notes box is on: include the notes box at the foot.
Tips
Write the specific topic — not just the subject — in the session goal slot so you can measure whether you reached it.
Use the confidence rating in the final section to decide which topics deserve a second session before the exam.
Print several sheets at once and staple them together to form a log of every session in exam week.
The other layouts in this set
“Exam Week Study Checklist” is one of three sheets in this set, each a different fixed layout filled for the same topic. “Assignment Submission Checklist” uses the two columns layout and “Revision Countdown Checklist” uses the phased timeline layout. Pick by how you work: the layout decides how much you write and where, not what the sheet is about.
